I just went to Sacramento a couple of months ago to see family and friends and I saw one of the little girls I taught in 2nd grade sunday school. She is going on her 2nd year of college now. What is really sad is some of the stuff I played with when I was little are in antique stores now. What is up with that? Although Strawberry Shortcake is coming back again. Woo Hoo!! LOL!!

Yeah, lol. Strawberry Shortcak is coming back, as well as Hollie Hobbie (does anyone remember? At leas I think I remember illustrations of a cartoony/Little House on the Prairie type little girl in the 70s named Hollie Hobbie). The songs I used to listen to in high school are now being played on the easy listening station my job pipes in. Wow, what a skip in time, from 2nd grade to 2nd year of college! Was a shock I bet! Though kind of neat to see that she was doing well, after all those years? Yeah, I've seen lunchboxes brom my childhood in the local antique store. It was also weird when the first younger person called me sir! Now it's fine. Praise the Lord!

Hopefully the two of you will not be offended that I join in on this discussion but as I read through what you were saying, I definitely could identify... I am new here so I am working to get my page up to speed..in time I am sure..its not like I am a spring chicken or anything! I recall "really awesome" things from the 80s that would never rear their ugly heads today...parachute pants...Big Hair...a single white glove...Roller Skates with wheels that lit up...Pac Man...Atari...blue jeans that were one color on the front and a different one on the back...yeah...the god old days. I remember when as a child it was a big deal to have a "huge TV" that sat on the floor...and getting my own cassette playing boom box was definitely cool. Wearing my OP or Lightening bolt T-shirts was a fashion statement and as a real little guy...owning the games "operation" or "Mousetrap" was a huge deal. Finally, the young p[eople I taught in Sunday school when I was still a teenager are now getting married and have their own little ones coming along (I am only 37) yep, though my body feels great and I still love to have a great time and do things people half my age enjoy (I am a former youth pastor) it would appear that the calander is pushing me towards the over forty status faster than I care to admit! Hope you all have a great day...and thans for allowing me to walk down memory lan for a moment! Steve

Of course we wouldn't be offended Steve. Welcome!! It is good to walk down memory lane. And I do remember Hollie Hobby. I had a holly hobbie lamp. Yep remember all that stuff too Steve like atari and I had big hair. I am 31. Yes it was a shock to see this little girl who use to sit on my lap in Sunday school and now she is in college, going to become some sort of doctor. Whoa! I remember when the first video camera came out. That was a big deal. Now everyone in America has one. I was just strolling around the chat rooms watching all the little kids chatting and people would send me a private message asking my age and stuff and when I would tell them they would say things like, "Oh you will probably want to talk to my dad." or "are you serious?" I even told them that I was really old and they would say "heck yes!" Geez it's not like I am 80 or something. I am trying to get the password for the over 30 room. Here is something that my friend sent me on myspace. It's called 80's kids. 1. You've ever ended a sentence with the word SIKE. 2. You watched the Pound Puppies. 3. You can sing the rap to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and can do the Carlton 4. Girls wore biker shorts under their skirts and felt stylishly sexy. 5. You yearned to be a member of the baby-sitters club and tried to start a club of your own. 6. You owned those lil' Strawberry Shortcake pals scented dolls. 7. You know that "WOAH" comes from Joey on Blossom 8. Two words: Hammer Pants 9. If you ever watched "Fraggle Rock" 10. You had plastic streamers on your handle bars... and spokey-dokes or playing cards on your spokes for that incredible sound effect 11. You can sing the entire theme song to "Duck Tales" (Woo ooh!) 12. It was actually worth getting up early on a Saturday to watch cartoons. 13. You wore a ponytail on the side of your head. 14. You saw the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the big screen..and still know the turtles names. 15. You got super-excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school. 16. You made your mom buy one of those clips that would hold your shirt in a knot on the side. 17. You played the game "MASH"(Mansion, Apartment, Shelter, House) 18. You wore stonewashed Jordache jean jackets and were proud of it. 19. L.A. Gear....need I say more? 20. You wanted to change your name to "JEM" in Kindergarten. (She's Truly Outrageous.) 21. You remember reading Tales of a fourth grade nothing and all The Ramona books. 22. You know the profound meaning of "WAX ON, WAX OFF" 23. You wanted to be a Goonie. 24. You ever wore fluorescent clothing. (some of us...head-to-toe) 25. You can remember what Michael Jackson looked like before his nose fell off and his cheeks shifted. 26. You have ever pondered why Smurfette was the only female smurf. 27. You took lunch boxes to school... and traded Garbage Pailkids in the schoolyard. 28. You remember the CRAZE, then the BANNING of slap bracelets. 29. You still get the urge to say "NOT" after every sentence. 30. You remember Hypercolor t-shirts. 31. Barbie and the Rockers was your favorite band. 32. You thought She-ra (Princess of Power!) and He-Man should hook up. 33. You thought your childhood friends would never leave because you exchanged handmade friendship bracelets. 34. You ever owned a pair of Jelly-Shoes. 35. After you saw Pee-Wee's Big Adventure you kept saying "I know you are, but what am I?" 36. You remember "I've fallen and I can't get up" 37. You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates. 38. You ever got seriously injured on a Slip and Slide. 39. You have ever played with a Skip-It. 40. You had or attended a birthday party at McDonalds. 41. You've gone through this nodding your head in agreement. 42. You remember Popples. 43. Don't worry, be happy 44. You wore like, EIGHT pairs of socks over tights with high top Reeboks. 45. You wore socks scrunched down (and sometimes still do..getting yelled at by younger hip members of the family) 46. You remember boom boxes and walking around with one on your shoulder like you were all that. 47. You remember watching both Gremlins movies. 48. You know what it meant to say "Care Bear Stare!!" 49 You remember watching Rainbow Bright and & My Little Pony Tales 50. You thought Doogie Howser/Samantha Micelli was hot. 51. You remember Alf, the lil furry brown alien from Melmac. 52. You remember New Kids on the Block when they were cool...and don't even flinch when people refer to them as "NKOTB" 53. You knew all the characters names and their life stories on "Saved By The Bell," The ORIGINAL class. 54. You know all the words to Bon Jovi - SHOT THROUGH THE HEART. 55. You just sang those words to yourself. 56. You remember watching Magic vs. Bird. 57. Homemade Levi shorts.. (the shorter the better) 58. You remember when mullets were cool! 59. You had a mullet! 60. You still sing "We are the World" 61. You pegged your jeans. 62. You owned a bannana clip. 63. You remember "Where's the Beef?" 64. You used to (and probably still do) say "What you talkin' 'bout Willis?" 65 You had big hair and you knew how to use it. 66. You're still singing shot through the heart in your head, aren't you! Does anyone else feel as old as I do right now??

OH My Gosh Liz... I think that in your list you just described most of my adolescent and teenage existence in one way or another...if it was a guy thing I either had or did it and if it was a girl thing I think I either dated someone or at the least had a good friend who had or did it (think banana clips and socks over tights) That was definitely cute and I hafta admit I will likely cut and paste it to an email to send to all of my 30 something type of friends...hehehe Hope you are having a great day and please know you dfeinitely gave me a huge smile here! steve

Yep, definitely remember those days! Thanks for the fun posting Liz! Although, I have to admit, I was afraid to play Operation, because of the buzzer! Nerf balls were cool. Had the parachute pants for sure! They were the coolest and made me fit right in! :) Had this huge wave hairdoo across the front, too. Although one of my friends in high school didn't think it was cool. He kind of said, ooookayyy. :) Seniors were SO COOL, and SO MUCH OLDER!!! Does anyone remember hair gel, and the wet look? Hair looking wet all day, and as stiff as dried spaghetti? Gosh, and MOUSSE!!! (Merci Gelle anyone? Maybe it was a local brand?) Used that like crazy in my sophomore year!! Just in case, I added a good dose of Aqua Net (hair spray). Shiny and stiff, yep, needed a category four to move that hair! Okay, God bless everyone, and have a GREAT day in Jesus! Jason Oh, P.S. Have also tried to get the password for the "Over 30 Chat Room". Emailed one of the administrators a couple of days ago, and no response. They are busy, to be sure. But has anyone gotten a response yet? Not asking for the password, but just wondering if anyone has been successful in this yet? God bless

Indie comic breakthrough franchise, still going strong. Get ready for the new CG film- looks good. I was wondering what "older" would be here. Seems 30 is it. I'm 32, and was pretty shaken on turning 30. Now it's cool. Staying healthy & safe. Death or rapture/end times. I hope to stick around for the latter-B)
