Extreme

K. So I didn't mean for it to have anything to do with comparing one person to another. I don't believe in that either. What I was trying to comunicate, as I said before, was that I am simply trying to provoke some thought here on our devotion to God. I am not saying that because I am comparing myself to anybody. I am saying it because I am so excited for the things that are coming and I want to help in any way I can to prepare the church for it. I am just trying to pass on the urgency and consistancy with which we need to seek God. I don't want to be one of the brides that was buying oil and whicks when things start to happen, and I want to share what I've learned and have been shown so that no one that I could have helped will be left behind.

I totally agree with DHfan about just following what God is telling you to do. Obviously there are different definitions of extreme. For example, for one extreme may be martyring one's self in the name of Allah, while for another it may just be standing up for one's beliefs at school. So, simply just saying we need to be "extreme" in our faith is a little unclear. For myself, one thing I feel I'm being led to do is become a worship leader. I hadn't really given it much thought until a couple weeks ago when one of my youth leaders simply asked, "Have you ever thought about being a worship leader?" At that moment it really hit me, I had been feeling like I was getting mixed signals about how exactly I could best serve, but that seemed to fit perfectly. The only minor problem is, while I play guitar and enjoy singing, especially praise and worship, I'm really uncomfortable leading singing. Playing guitar in front of people is fine, but standing up in front of people and singing....not so much. So, it is going to take a real leap of faith to put myself out there, but I'm willing to give it a try. I really feel like it is something I'm being led to do. So, for me that in itself is a little extreme

The definition of extreme is: going well beyond the ordinary or average. You have described that perfectly! We all need to be extreme in our faith. God has never been average. Jesus was extreme with his ministry - and with his sacrifce. We, as Christians, should live all out for God - not for ourselves. We are IN the world and that's exactly where we should be - but when others see us living successful, fulfilling, joyous lives as Christians, they will want to know what makes us different. Christians who live "average" lives, plodding unconsciously along with the world's flow, don't make a difference for the Kingdom of God. It's those who stand out (in a good way) that attract unbelievers to the Kingdom. It's a very exciting prospect and a great place to live!!
