i got mine last year. and they killed my mouth and my teeth. i learned to eat only soup, macaroni and cheese, and jello. i taught myself to swallow all of them whole. so i dont have to chew any more and it didnt hurt

braces...ooohh...hmm...lol. I had them . I got them off last year. I had them for like a yeah and a half. OH! The pain! I hated them. But I'm glad they are off now and I do like my straight teeth. Although they were pretty straight to start with only the canine teeth stuck out a little. thats all! But I don't regret having them. How long do you have to have them? I remember how WEIRD they felt when I got them on. and How Hard it was to eat! but then I got so used to them and feeling them it felt so weird and odd when I got them off. my teeth were smooth and straight. lol.B)

umm when you get your spacers in do not eat anything hard or stikey they could pull them out ad that is all the longer that yu have to wear your braces and dont eat popcorn with spacers in and listen to your orthodontist when he tells you not to eat anything cuz he's right!!! my sister ate all the wrong things and she has had her braces on for 3 years and she was suppost to have themoff in a year and she still has them on! so watever you do obey your orthodontist!:) :) :)

I agree with everyone else...when you first get any orthodontic work...expander, spacers, braces, etc. it may hurt to talk, chew...if the pain gets too unbearable you can take some tylenol. After a few days it gets easier to eat. I had and expander when I was in 6th grade, braces when I was in 7th...got them off in 9th...got them back on in 10th (problems with the retainers fitting) and then got them off in august. Listen to your orthodontist. If like to chew gum...sugarfree gum won't damage the glue too much.

I used to have braces (I got them of over a year and a half ago) and were they ever a pain in the butt! I learned to chew sugar free gum, eat popcorn, and break just about every rule that the orthodontists told me to follow while I had my braces (there are certain things your not supposed to eat with your braces, but I found a way around most of them!!! )! When you get your braces, it really is only hard to chew stuff for about a week or so, then you can pretty much go back to eating all your normal stuff, except for what the orthodontist said not to have with your braces. Trust me, sugar free gum does not stick to or mess up your braces, so don't be afraid to chew it with your braces on! horsechic1990

When you chew it it starts to break it down and helps during digestion. not chewing it makes it hard on your digestion and over time can make you sick. if you can't chew it at least mush it around alot. lol. B)
