Okay i will start out with opinions and then give what i've found... do you believe that there is a difference between the different versions of the bible.. NIV, KJ, NKJ, NCV, Message... there are many... Now do you think that its just a easier way to read the bible? Your thoughts!?

I use a Darby translation and KJV and different versions do differ (natch.) and some are so different cut and pasted that it's not a Bible at all, Can't think of any at the mo. but the NKJV and NIV are reputed to be thattaway

For those of you who have a KJV you will see that this verse is present and very vital in the passage i will talk about it a moment. In the NIV the verse doesnt' exsist. Why.... Why would someone just drop a verse. KJV Act 8:36-38 36And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. NIV 36As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, "Look, here is water. Why shouldn't I be baptized?"[a] 38And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. The message Acts 8:36-38 (The Message) 36-39As they continued down the road, they came to a stream of water. The eunuch said, "Here's water. Why can't I be baptized?" He ordered the chariot to stop. They both went down to the water, and Philip baptized him on the spot. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of God suddenly took Philip off, and that was the last the eunuch saw of him. But he didn't mind. He had what he'd come for and went on down the road as happy as he could be. This is not the only verse that has been brought to my attention. ITs not that churches are the only ones that water down things... here it is very evident that as translation get "easier" to understand we get further and further away from unity... and one belief because the translations have begun to distort the verses. Here is another verse.... This came up in a bible study with my friend on and i was seriously frustrated... because this is why there is division. 1John 5:6-8 King James Version (KJV) 6This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. NIV 6 And Jesus Christ was revealed as God’s Son by his baptism in water and by shedding his blood on the cross[a]—not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit, who is truth, confirms it with his testimony. 7 So we have these three witnesses[b]—8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood—and all three agree. Message 6-8Jesus—the Divine Christ! He experienced a life-giving birth and a death-killing death. Not only birth from the womb, but baptismal birth of his ministry and sacrificial death. And all the while the Spirit is confirming the truth, the reality of God's presence at Jesus' baptism and crucifixion, bringing those occasions alive for us. A triple testimony: the Spirit, the Baptism, the Crucifixion. And the three in perfect agreement Very different And its regarding the Trinity another area where controversy is... this would be because we are dropping of parts of verses through translations. Now to be honest... it made me feel irratated that in my NIV... in Acts ... the verse isn't there... there is a small n as a foot note... and how often to do you look at those foot notes...And the foot note made it sound like the verse that was taken out... wasn't in the orginal text. These aren't the only ones...
