For those of you who haven't had years of experience on internet message boards, you may not be aware of a phenomenon known as "trolling." Trolling is posting messages intended to incite flames, which are angry assaults on other posters. A troll on a video game website, for instance, might be easily picked out if he posts "POKEMON SUX!!!1u" on the Pokemon board. There are only two possible motivations for this: 1. A pitifully low IQ, or 2. the desire to get a rise out of people. An equivalent of this which might hit home with some of you is a person who, for instance, posts obscene and anti-God messages on an overtly moral and Christian forum. Right now it's Sandman. A few months ago it was someone else, and after this it will be yet someone else. Trolls will always show up. The best way to deal with them is to simply ignore them. They feed off of the negative attention they receive from their unhelpful and raucous posting. Deny them fuel and they will eventually go elsewhere, if they are not banned by the administration first. So be a smart and community-conscious poster. Don't feed the trolls.
