Well, we as Christians are supposed to be prosperous. The question is, what is true prosperity? Prosperity isn't necessarily monetary. We have Jesus, and that is the biggest sign of prosperity that exists.

great point that is exactly why i dont like the way that it is taught today. it is not taught with truth. the way it is taught today is that if you claim christ and are rich then you are saved unless are getting richer and then you are still saved. but man if you are poor and believe then you are a false prophet. i was working with homeless people last year, i would always ask them why they do not have faith in christ. there were many answers but the majority stated that christ is for the rich. so then i asked them why they thought that and low and behold that is what they were taught.

That reminds me of a story that Jesus told once... I'm not sure where in the bible I saw it or how exactly it was worded but here it goes One day at church a poor woman gave a penny to the church. Then a rich man laughed a gave 2 million dollars. (It's not the type of money they had then but I gotta make it simple) Jesus turned to his diciples and said "The woman who gave, she gave more than the man." The diciples were confused and asked why. Then Jesus sais "See the man gave too million dollars, but he has much much more than that. That much money won't hurt him at all. But the woman who gave her penny gave everything she had. It's not how much you have but how much you are willing to give for others." Basically it would be like if Bill Gates gave 2 million dollars...big deal! Tell the people that if you have nothing you can't give anything...and God understands....but if you won't give anything and you have a ton of stuff you just waste then thats different. Now I'm not saying that if you only have one penny you have to give it, but do ya get the story?
