forgotten passions of christ

we often hear about the death and beatings of jesus. however we seldom hear about the hard times he went through from the start of his ministry to his death. first of all he left all things behind. he did not have money or any material things with him when he went out to start his ministry. he was completely homeless and without. jesus did not only leave everything behind, he walk many miles a day so that he could get out and give the gospel that we may believe in him and recieve life eternally. i walked 23 miles one day in a pair of shoes that was not in the best shape but still had a better sole on them then sandles. i remember how sore and bad off my feet were when i got to my destination. jesus walked many miles in sandels. this is some food for thought. i will add to this later.

While reading this... my mind and heart grew heavy...and the simple fact that we have become slothful. Indolence was not something that would have us protray. To be a Christian ... a follower of Christ is to be Christ like.. And you have heard this many many times.... but would God be lazy about showing love? Would he pick a show ... or a meal... or sleep over his father? Could you walk a mile in Christ's shoes? I prolly couldn't ... But Christ through me i could walk that path... that is what Christ asks of us... to walk that path... that line... not in your own strength but in his. (sorry if i went off on a lil soap box)

dont appoligize that is great. i do not think that i could walk ten steps in the shoes of christ. his pain and suffering started at the beginning of his ministry. man silly charis that is another awesome post. i wish more people here posted like you do. a very strong heart for the lord that is beutiful to see.

this makes me think of a good metaphor for our lives as Christians: if Jesus had to go to the lengths of human physical ability to spread the gospel, how much more should we go to share the story of what God has done for us?

I love it DH.... i love the question! We dont know what suffering for Christ is... what don't know what presecution .... But i pray that we would make the effort to walk and go ... where christ would have us go (when i say we.... dont know.. i'm being very general... most people dont know what it is like to suffer for christ)

dh fan this is a great metaphor. we often forget the punishment that jesus accepted for wanting to save us. he did not have to go through those things for us but he did. it was not only him being our sacrifice but also his mercy and love for us.

Why is it so hard for us to attaining or have a passion to grasp just a piece of the heart of God and share it with people? Why can't we display that love to people, the ones that are the closest you seems to judge more harshly, demean, and just wrip them apart.... yet the lady you see at church every week is treated with the upmost respect? When will accountablity be something that we look for... and make it take a place of importance? just curious..

ya know charis, there use to be all those things in the church. but everyone has moved on to the make people feel good gospel rather than the true convicting gospel. when are words such as repent, hell, life and death going to be taught in the churches again. when are people going to realize that jesus was killed by every man woman and child that walks or has walked the face of the earth. when are people truly going to give up the world and put complete faith in jesus? i agree with you charis there are many things that are not being stated or talked about.
