I haven't read this entire thread, but here is where I stand on the geeks vs. preps thing: In my world, there are no geeks and there are no preps. Just people. I don't see others as being "dorky" or "preppy". I don't strive to be better than anyone or to fit in with anyone. I am who I am. You can accept me or you can reject me, but you won't break me. I am not going to change for anyone, even if I do get to be in "the clique". I have so many different friends. For example, I am in band, but my best friend is a cheerleader. I know it may be hard to believe because society has labeled cheerleaders as "Snobs", "preps", "Skanks"... And society has also labeled band kids as "Geeks", "nerds", "dorks"... Believe it or not, both worlds can come together. Oh, and the whole "Hollister" thing is rediculous. Currently, in my closet, there are clothes from Wal-Mart and Target, and there are also clothes from Banana Republic and American Eagle. I don't buy my clothes based on the label. I buy clothes that fit my personality. I honestly don't care what label I am wearing as long as I have clothes on my back and I don't care what clique I'm in as long as I have friends who love me.

Wow, this is an old thread. Popular: regarded with favor, approval, or affection by people in general. The word "popular" has been abused and made into a bigger deal by people. There is nothing wrong with being popular, it's what you do with it. Some people get carried away, thinking they're better than others, simply because people have labeled other people as "geeks", "popular", "preps", etc. It's sad that people can label others and say you have to be part of a "specific group". Personally I don't really care about it. I'll try to show God's love to as many people as I can. Doesn't matter who you are, or what you're labeled as. Yes, I do think the clothing brands and how they are a part of labels sometimes is silly. I wear whatever I like.

Hm. Well, sadly, I've been labeled several different things. Within the past year, I have been called: *Lesbian *Slut *Whore *Most likely to run off to Vegas at age 17 (NOTE: I'm not sure how slut, whore, and the Vegas thing came about...) *Just another one of (place name here)'s many girlfriends (This person happens to be my best guy friend. People make assumptions.) *Klutz *Dork *Band geek *Nerd *Most likely to fall at graduation *Short And some people have said the opposite... *Snob *Rich Kid *Prep *"Thinks she's all that" *rolls eyes* The list only goes on. I've learned to blow it off and act like no one said anything.

Our problems are opposite then. I look emo, but I'm not. My favorite color is purple, and I love it doubled with black, so I'm always wearing purple and black. I love the way skinny jeans look on me, so I'm always wearing skinny jeans. Converse are the coolest shoes in the world. I love all these neat bands (Cute is what we aim for, Mayday Parade, All Time Low, etc.) so I like to wear all these different band shirts. I think black nail polish looks neat, so I keep black nail polish on my toenails. My hair is very very dark and it has red in it (the dark color is natural, the red is not). Basically, the only thing that doesn't make me look emo is the fact that I don't wear eyeliner. *shrug* Let them believe what they want. At least you know what's true and what isn't

I was depressed for a while about two months ago. I cried a lot, and that's when everyone started calling me emo. It really aggravated me. Just because I dress neat and listen to awesome music and, like a normal person, get upset every now and then DOES NOT MEAN I AM EMO!
