Alright ladies, so I'm very tired of all the posts about this boy did this and this boy did that (no offence meant, and hope none was taken!). Time to think about God for 2 secs. :) So, there is a very interesting thread in the Debate forum about Worship. Basically, the question was asked, is it right to change the way we worship? Why or why not? Now, the debate got very long and involved, and most people seemed to agree that it's ok to worship God in ways that not only glorify Him, but are also enjoyable to us. However, some people disagreed and stated that it is wholly selfish to change the way we worship because we like this or that better. So, I have a different question. WHAT is worship, and WHY do we do it? Is there any 'right' or 'wrong' way to worship? Can we be selfish when we worship? Is there any special we that you guys connect with God? PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, THIS IS, BY NO MEANS, MEANT TO BE A DEBATE!!!!!! Mostly because I'm horrible at debates (LOL) and nothing is ever accomplished by debating things. I want to hear what you guys (or should I say 'gals'??) have to say before I post any more. :silly: So, READY..... GO! ;)

i dont think we are changing the way we worship. you're supposed to worship in spirit and in truth right? you're supposed to worship God with your whole life right? not just with song but in all that you do right? worship is a lifestyle. you do it with all you heart, soul, and mind right? then by changing music, are we really changing worship? nope. its still praising Him, glorifying Him, making Him the center, showing our love for Him, and being real with Him.

oh and p.s. amen to being tired of all the "boy" posts. i was getting annoyed and eager to talk about JESUS. =] no offense though. but really there are more important things. boys are a waste of energy at this point for most of the girls that are posting those anyhow. this is worth talking about. HE IS WORTH EVERYTHING!

Yay!!!! A JESUS focused topic!!!!! True, worship is supposed to be our daily living, our lifestyle, and our very breath. We worship God by dressing in a godly pleasing mannar, by trying to be ever closer to Him, by reading our Bibles (daily) by being separate from the world in all we do, by having a pure heart towards our creator. etc.... :) But, I'm kinda think'in that you're more refering to worship as in a Church setting? So, if a person would feel unconfortable bringing their favorite music group and playing it for the congregation, then ditch it. Church is like the corner stone of where a lot of our ideas come from, and it is a Holy place. It's where we learn about God, who He is and what He wants us to do in our individual lives for Him and His glory. In short I guess what I'm getting at is, if Jesus was sitting there with headphones next to you (which He is) would you still feel confortable with the music? I'm totally not trying to judge anybody here, I'm just saying what I do with my own music, so that's why I'm tell'in ya'll. :) :) I may have explained this a little badly, so if it's not clear, let me know and I'd be happy to try and clearify!!! Love ya'll Sis's in Christ!!!!! Linguist4Christ

yeah i know what you're saying about listening to unedifying music. its just the same with clothes if youd never wear that to church then you probably shouldnt wear it at all. your whole life is worship not just the time you spend with your fellowship.

Amen, guys!!! :) linguist- I was talking about more of a church setting, but also wanted to know how other people veiw worship, so hey, it's all cool. :) Do you two have any way that you really feel close to God? Is there any activity or type of music that just makes you feel God's presence more? For me personally, I totally worship through music. Doesn't neccessarily matter what kind- to me, it's the lyrics that matter, and can you understand them... :) But, I also do a lot of writing, and I feel that sometimes God will show me things through my pen. What about you guys? Is there any ministry that you're involved in? Let's see if we can keep this going. :silly:

And we are supposed to glorify God with everything to do. So everything we do is supposed to be a form of worship. We worship to glorify God. If you start to worship to glorify yourself, then you are falling into sin. I think that people should be able to worship however they want, as long as it glorifies the one we are worshipping! Btw, i am sick of the guy threads as well. Although we are all at that age where that is alot of what alot of us think about. But not me. I think of so many other things. Lol.

Yup, it's kinda strange, but the folks whom I can have the most meaningful conversations with about the Lord are non Christians. Except one SMALL little group of Christians that gather from various Churches every once in a while. I can't figure it out, but hey, at least their look'in for the right answers in life and are at least willing to hear and ask about the Lord. Wow, this is really great! Really talking about God and in a serious way that isnt diluted or watered down in any way. :) He is such an all powerful and loving Saviour, not to mention our abba father. He is our greatest friend! Thank you father for your redeeming power! Love ya Sis's!!!!

Wow, new blood! :) Thanks for the reply, dancingwithtomatoes!! ;) I have to wonder, linguist, if maybe the reason non-Christians are more willing to have in-depth converstations is because they aren't worried about being 'religious', you know? Like, so many Christians, it seems, are soooo concerned about apprearing 'religious', that to even mention God in a way outside of 'slander' is 'offensive'. Do you know what I mean? It's like Christians are more afraid of sharing their faith because of what others might think than other people are of asking. Or is it just me?

people need to stop worrying about how others are going to feel if you say something. i think non christians are so good to talk to about this stuff is b/c they really dont know and they want to know. well some of them.
