my dad died when i was 2 in a car crash,(involving a drunk driver) whenever i see people with there dad's I want to cry. (even though I have an awesome step dad) My friend's mom died last year, and she's not at all upset. What am I missing??? Am I a crazy sap, or is she tough as nails, or are we both mad???

neither of you are mad. some people can hold themselves together in really tough situations better than others. i have never lost a parent and i am so sorry you did. i did lose a friend in a car crash in may like right before summer kicked off. it was really hard to go to school and not think about him. i have never been one to just lose it in front of people. instead i put up a tough front that makes it appear that it doesn't tear me apart inside. when it was just me and God i would just break down and cry. maybe your friend is like that. maybe she is afraid that if you see her crying, you'll think she is weak. just talk to her and let her know that if she needs to cry, it's o.k. if she needs to fall apart, you'll catch her. just be there for her. Like sonworshipper said, some people are better at holding it together than others. My grandma die five years ago, and this week in Spanish class we celebrated Die de los Muertos (day of the dead) and I made my altar box in honor of my grandmother. Looking at the picture of her, I broke down in tears. But crying when someone else is with their dad is alright, I think. It shows that you love your dad, and still care about him. But I'll pray for you
