It's sad, and pathetic. (So sorry, 12 and 13 year olds, if I hurt your feelings, but you need this.) I have already covered this in the original HIL, but honestly: YOU ARE NOT IN LOVE, IT IS YOUR HORMONES. You girls who got out and date, seeking boys for a compliment and not to the One who loves you more than any silly, testosterone discovering boy ever could, are setting yourselves up for hurt. You're awakening your hearts to love long before you are truly ready. (I don't give a hoot about what you say about maturity, I'm your age or was once and now realize that I was too young and naive for dating) When you awaken love/hormones at a young age, and start dating, you are putting yourself in a dangerous position. For every boy you date, you give a shred of your heart to him. That's a shred that you will never get back, a shred of your heart that you cannot give to your husband. Give to the man who, next G-d, will give you more love than any of adolescent who thinks love and sex are the same thing. And after you give away a piece of your heart, then three weeks later the relationship is gone(whoops! Didn't mean for that to happen) you'll wonder what went wrong (back to immaturity and naivety and the verse at the beginning of the post) and will see another guy you're hormonally in love with, and the process begins again in an endless cycle until you see what's happening and try to stop. So my advice: avoid dating, focus on Jesus, give Him your heart, and He'll give you a man (note that I say man, not guy or boy) that has given his own heart to the Lord. Focus on things that will make you worthy of this man. There's so much more to life than looking for Mr. Right.
