What are your opinions on baptism? I do not think it is needed and do not understand why people think you have to be baptised to get into heaven...:dry:

Baptism does not save you. But I think it is very important to be baptized. Even Jesus tells us to get baptized after we are saved. Mat 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit" Even Jesus was baptized. Mat 3:16 "After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove {and} lighting on Him" God was pleased that Jesus was baptized. Mat 3:17 "and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased." Jesus set the example and we are supposed to follow His example. 1Pe 2:21 "For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps" Thats just my opinion on all of this.

Jesus doesn't require you to be baptized, He just wants you to believe in Him. Baptism just shows others that you have done that, and that you are not ashmed to be called a Christian. So if you have asked Jesus to save you from your sin, baptism is the next step. Its important b/c Jesus tells us to be baptized, and He even set an example for us and was baptized! (Luke 3:21) If we love Jesus, we show that love by obeying His commandments. :)

Jesus' baptisim showed things. When he was baptised it showed he was going to go God's will, which is why God told him he was well-pleased. Also kings were annointed with oil, so baptisim showed that(only not with oil) also priests were washed clean before they became preists and jesus was a priest and a King, so thats also how those went. Jesus died on the cross and got rid of all sins so the only reason baptisim was preformed was to get rid of sin, and I believe it was only John the baptist who baptised people at first until some other people believed it was the only way to get into heaven. And Jesus said go and baptise them because that was before his death ans so thats why they needed it. I just don't think you need to do it because Your sins are gone and it will only be showing to other christians that you have accepted Jesus not the whole world, you have to do that yourself by talking and preeching. Plus it does not always show you have accepted Christ, many churches have people attending who are not really christian but they just attend church, they get baptised but never asked God into their heart, but since they go to church and were baptised it "makes them Christians' as they believe. but of course, that is mostly just my opinion and what i know.
