I've been having a hard time with this for a while, so... Has anyone ever been afraid to get close to someone because they're scared that the person is going to hurt them/let them down? I've been feeling like this for a long time. I'm just so scared to love someone, or really, really care about someone because I'm afraid that they're going to leave me. Does anyone have any advice on how I could stop this fear I have? Or am I doing the right thing and I should just stay how I am?

I'm there with you hon. It's mostly from being hurt so much before that you don't want to feel it again. The problem with giving into that though, is that you miss all the healing that a person has to offer you. They may let you down, but they're only human. They may leave, but they're still there. They aren't gone forever. But when you let someone get close, they're able to help you through that healing process to not be afraid. Most times you don't even see it, but it works. If you're going to let them close, just remember that they don't mean to take you down. If they want to get close, it's because they want to love you and be loved. make any sense?

It's so easy being independent, yet so lonely... You know?

I know what thats like. In the end I got too lonely and cried out to God. He basically gave me a trust lesson for dummies :D
