I have a friend who, until today, I thought was a well-rounded, level headed individual. Oh, how people can prove us wrong. She's dating this guy, and he's really nice and I've been friends with him for a long time. I'm sort of happy for them, aside from the fact that I still think they're too young, but that's a different story. Anyway, someone said something about them gettting married someday. The friend, who I will refer to as Sally, told me that she avoided the subject with her boyfriend, who I will refer to as Bob. When I asked her why she avoided the subject, I got this response: "I'm just so young. I don't need to think about marriage!" After she saw my expression (which I wish I could have seen; I'd say it was pretty hilarious) and let me shake my head a few times, she asked me why I reacted the way I did. My response: "Sally, honey, seriously?! If you have no plan on even CONSIDERING marriage with him, then [i]why in the world[/i] are you dating him?! Really?!" My statement angered her. The following statement angered her even more: ". . . and I know you're getting mad at me. Honestly, I don't care. Yes, I [i]do[/i] have my views on everything, and generally, it ticks people off. But, this is really just common sense." So, I think she's sorta mad at me, but I'm just letting it pass. Maybe I could have handled it better. *shrug* I just can't believe that she really and honestly said that she had no intentions, whatsoever, of marrying the guy she's dating. Ugh.

This would be why I said "Maybe I reacted the wrong way.". ;) I think my reaction was caused by a combination of my horrible mood on that day, being annoyed by highly unintellegent people in my Algebra class, and having another one of the piccolo players squeaking in my ear at that very moment. :P I'd say she saw it coming though. She knows how I think and she knows that I think differently than mostly everyone else. *shrug* So, yes, after evaluating the situation, I have decided that I handled it in a way that I shouldn't have.
