The closer I walk to Jesus, the easier it is to overcome temptation. Prayer plays an integral part in this process because without a barrage of weekly prayers over me, life would be much tougher. However, I am not discounting the grace of God which kicks in when my efforts are not enough. In addition, continuing to pray "lead me not into temptation" and "deliver me from evil" also greatly helps. The cross of Jesus, the blood of Jesus and the name of Jesus are able to combat any demonic whispers, but I need to be sure I am well-fed spiritually in order to bring those truths to bear on whatever I am facing.
