Translation errors

You do realize that new translations of the Bible aren't simply updates of old ones, right? We still have many early manuscripts of the Bible, such as the Dead Sea Scrolls. The NASB, for example, went back to the original language and performed a word-for-word translation to get that version. Translating the Bible isn't like playing "Telephone." I'm not saying there have never been any translation mistakes, and that nothing was ever lost. I am saying that these occurrences are extremely few, minute, and have never occurred in any situation that would obscure doctrine or alter the message. oops, I didn't mean to make a new thread, just responding to another one. Ah, well. Post edited by: BrotherReed, at: 2007/09/26 06:38

It would be nice to say that there has never been an error in translations of the Scriptures... However, that is quite different than saying that there are errors in Scripture. BTW - You are quite right that the NASB is a litteral translation, and one of the best!

I like the NASB a lot. I use it as my study Bible.
