i'm not really sure who to talk to... seeing you all [or at least the majority of you] are Christians, maybe you'll understand where i'm coming from... i'm a christian, i'm saved, i go to church, i live for God, you know, blah blah blah... my mom isn't. i want more than anything to live my life for God, and to go to a christian college and do things in ministry and stuff...but she is totally against it. i don't know what to do. right now i'm going to college and i hate it. [it's not a christian school] i've been praying about it, obviously, but i just don't know what to do. what if i go against her and i'm proven wrong, that i'm not supposed to go to a christian school? argh, i really don't know what to do... help, anyone? :)

hey girl, trust me i know exactly what your talking about... my mom isnt a christian either. I changed my life around and started living for god, and i go to church with my friends because none of my family will go with me. good news! there is hope because my mom went with me a few times, and then she stopped, but last sunday, she came again! i was soooooo excited. and the only thing i did was try to get her to go and keep living for god and praying! i'm in high school, and i go to one of those schools that gang fights and stuff come up every week. no exaggeration! so i'm going to be looking at what people say to your post maybe itll help me too?

Well, of course the first priority is to Pray and to Pray hard. Pray it through. Like spend a whole day or something like that just going through your Bible and Praying until you have an answer. I totally know how you feel about the college situation. Trust me, if you hate going to the secular college stop going. It'll just kill you inside if you keep going. Since you're old enough to go to college, your old enough to let your mom know how you feel on this issue. Switch to a Christian college. If you really stand up for the Christian college, letting your mom know that you are determined, she'll see how committed you are, and it might just could win her over. Pray that the Lord will soften her heart so there will not be any arguments etc. I really hope this helps! If so, talk to me!!!!! We can Pray about this together :) Your Sis Linguist

I can understand your frustration and I agree you need to pray, but also try showing her it's okay. My dad is gay and grew up in church and no longer goes, and while he lived at home with us for awhile I used to read my bible and pray infront of him alot, I'd also invite him along to church and witness to him. I know it's not always easy but try, also remember that they are looking for the bad as well, non christians look for you to cuss and act up so they can say that they don't want to be like that. Just make sure you show her the gental good side of christianity, and show her how excepting we are. Sooner or later she'll come around, or atlest be more understanding of it!Good Luck!

Well, it really is what you want. You're getting old enough to make your own decisions. It is a good idea to tell someone, though. Just continue praying, though. Sooner or later, God will answer your prayers. You'll get through it. I'm sure you probably don't really need to be told this, but don't let your mom convince you to stop being a Christian. Don't let her control you, ok? I'm sure it's hard, but even though you've tried talking to her, continue to try, I would suggest. Really tell her how you feel, and maybe she'll listen. I hope that helps! God bless you! -Anko
