What do you think I should do?

I hope you have a minute.... Okay, I'm homeschooled and every year there's a homeschool prom. Ever since we heard about it this year me and about 3 friends were gonna go together. This will be all of our first proms and we're SUPER excited. And I'm also gonna know a BUNCH of other people that are going. Did I mention that I'm SUPER excited!?!?!? :woohoo: So about two weeks before I know the date for this, my friends mom asked me if I wanted to go on a retreat type thing w/ the youth group at her church. I go to a different church on Sundays but didn't really hit it off with any of the girls at the youth so I don't go to it, and I just attend regular service. So lately my brother and I have been going to the youth at my friends church becuase we already know (through homeschooling) a few of the kids there. Well I told her I would really wanted to go on this thing. And then about a week later I find out it's gonna be the first weekend of May, I mark my calender, we're all happy. THEN I find out that the homeschool prom is the SAME weekend and there is NO possible way for me to go to both of these things. :pinch: So on top of that I'm really concidering going on the missions trip this year with them and not only do I think it will be a good way to prepare for this, but I think it'll be a good way to make some new friends that I'll be spending that whole week with. Because my friend that goes to that church is in middleschool and I'm in highschool and my other highschool friend is going on the middleschool missions trip because it's her first missions trip (Oh by the way this will be my first missions trip too, another reason for me to be scared :( ) So my brain is going this way and that and I'm totally confused. All my friends REALLY want me to go to prom and to be honest I would rather go to prom then this too! I'm so confused!!! Oh yeah and one more factor, (wow I didn't realize how confusing this was for me untill I wrote it down!) I also found out that they don't even have a speaker or a place to have this reatreat thing, but for the past few years they've gotten that at the last minute and are assuming that that will happen again this year. So I'm getting REALLY frustrated because I might be stressing out over this for nothing!!!!  Please HELP!!! What should I dooooo!?!?!?
All my friends REALLY want me to go to prom and to be honest I would rather go to prom then this too!
I say if your not 100% certain you want to go on the retreat, And you would rather go to the prom.......... Then go to the prom.

Well i would say go to the prom. You were planning on going to that first, so i would say stick to your first commitment. I was in a similar situation a few years ago, and i wasnt sure if i should go to camp or to colorado. we were planning on going to colorado, but at the last minute, i changed my mind and went to camp. camp was horrid, i absolutly hated it, and the rest of my family had lots and lots of fun in colorado. if i would have stuck with my first commitment, i would have had more fun. i am not saying that last minute things are bad, but if i were in your position, i would say go to prom. p.s. i went on my first missions trip to mexico last year (i was 13) by myself and it was awesome!!! is it a thru your church or an organization? dont be scared ;) its an adventure that you will never forget!!! :cheer: HIH!!! ~J.~

I would look at which one you would be able to go to again, if this retreat is yearly go to prom! It only comes twice. :)

Well the prom is once a year, but this was going to be most of my friends (and my) fist one. And the retreat is once or twice a year but you can only go on it once as a student, and all my other friends are going this time.

It's cliche...but WWJD? God wants His children to glorify Him in all that they do and say! Just think about which decision would be helping your relationship with God!

Hey you guys! First of all let me say thank you for all the wonderful advise, it's a blessing to be able to talk to all my sis's in Christ! I just thought that I would tell you how things worked out. The retreat was cancled, now instead as missions trip preperation we're going gleening in a corn field. It's going to be pretty early in the morning so if I come home right after then I should have plenty of time to go to the prom! I was a little bummed out about the retreat getting cancled but I'm kind of happy @ the same time, so I guess it all worked out. Thanks for all the advise!!!! ~bri~
