Youth groups.... blah blah blah

Ok, I really want to try out this youth group across the street. But, I've had super bad experiences with youth groups! All of them, every single one, has turned out bad and one youth pastor that I really opened up to, which is so hard for me, really hurt me. he was a jerk. So, I'm scared that this one will be the same as all the others. I'm aslo nervous to meet all those people. I guess I just want people to accept me. Please help!

I hate to see you miss out on what could be a potentially great experience for you. Could you email the youth pastor of the group you want to attend, explain your situation (you don't have to go into great detail, just let him know you've had a bad experience in the past) and ask him what you should expect before you get there? This may prompt him (or her) to extend a personal invitation and to introduce you to some other kids when you do visit.

bring a friend with you if you wanna go... it's easier to go into new and weird situations if you have someone you know and like to go along with you also, don't hinder what God might wanna do just because you've had a bad past with youth groups.... pray about it

I say hey go for it...pray about it and just b/c your attending doesn't mean that your joining the church or making a long lasting commitment. God will lead you where he wants you to go...my best friend moved from FL to here in good 'ol Missouri back in Feb. She told me that she thought that she had a good thing with her youth group, but when she got involved in my church youth group she found out how great a youth group can be...take it from someone who has been blessed to be apart of the best youth group anyone can ask for...it's important to be apart of a group like that...being around other Christians encourage you to be strong in your faith and hold you accountable for your actions...if it's not where God wants you to be, then he'll make it clear.
