I usually try to tip $1-2 when I go out to eat, they deliver, or when I get a haircut. Most workers in the US get about minimum wage. I don't know how much it is right now.

If someone is still earning minimum wage after an extended period of time, the problem is with the employee, not the employer. Good, trustworthy employees are not so common.
