It took me a bit to actually understand what the hey y'all are talking about. Nearly everyone on campus had the I <3 Boobies bracelets, and if I'd had the money and the time to head to the campus center to get one, I would've.

My question is why would a breast cancer awareness bracelet be so contraversial?

I personally dislike I luv boobies bracelets and that whole general awareness campaign that makes the whole things about saving boobs instead of trying to fight cancer. Basically it's just excuses to wear things like "ta-tas" or "boobies" on your shirt or hat or bracelet. It also keeps people from being fully aware that everyone can get breast cancer, not just women, and that it doesn't just attack your boobs. I like that it raises a lot of money for treatment and research and etc., it just makes me a bit sad that it has to be based on novelty.
For a while I wore a Colorectal Cancer wristband. It's one of the few times you can talk about rectums in public.

Lulz, Nathan. So yeah, I'm Kellie, aka Dictator Bittersweet. I mostly get on here during weekdays due to shared Internet and highly protective parents. And as for the boobie bracelets. I don't wear them. I see people wearing them, and I laugh, because it's so tacky.

Cancer patients have a place in my heart in general. I'm very partial to breast and brain cancer foundations because I lost Meghan to them. I also lost an aunt to lung cancer, so that's a big one for me as well.

Hi Mark, glad to see you back here. I apologise if I offended you earlier, it wasn't intentional. I'm Sara, by the way :)
If you'd like to know more about the "I love b**bies" bracelets you can go here www.keep-a-breast.org/programs/i-love-boobies/. They are part of the reason that I invented "i love Bibles" wristbands. There is a lot of controversy over these out here in California. I guess they're not as popular in your neck of the woods.
Oh hey, that's a pretty cool campaign. No wonder I was confused though lol, I couldn't think of any words that would require being starred out and looked like that. Is boobies a bad word in America? It's just standard baby talk here... And why is there controversy about it? I don't understand.
It's not necessarily a "bad" word, but it is considered inappropriate to many people. I choose to star our the word to avoid offending anyone. Some kids have actually been suspended from school for refusing to remove the bracelet. There is controversy because many people think the word "boobies" is inappropriate and the bracelets place emphasis upon parts of the female anatomy.
