There is absolutely nothing wrong with Blue Footed Boobies!!! And yeah, there's a lot of us that are a little picky about grammar. Many of us don't really like text talk. We have torture kits for those that disregard this. My name is Kenneth. It's nice to meet you. So, tell us about you. Age, interests, hobbies... I'm 24. I play a lot of musical instruments, and I play with my 100 lb guard dogs. Italian mastiffs.
I work with jr high and high school kids and they generally couldn't care less about grammar. I suppose that's why Im not too strict with grammar. Im 25 and I love Jesus more than anything.

Hi Mark, glad to see you back here. I apologise if I offended you earlier, it wasn't intentional. I'm Sara, by the way :)
If you'd like to know more about the "I love b**bies" bracelets you can go here www.keep-a-breast.org/programs/i-love-boobies/. They are part of the reason that I invented "i love Bibles" wristbands. There is a lot of controversy over these out here in California. I guess they're not as popular in your neck of the woods.
Oh hey, that's a pretty cool campaign. No wonder I was confused though lol, I couldn't think of any words that would require being starred out and looked like that. Is boobies a bad word in America? It's just standard baby talk here... And why is there controversy about it? I don't understand.
Boobies isn't really a bad word, it's just something people don't like saying. Usually it's associated with I want to see them shown, or I like porn. Of course, there's nothing bad about boobies in and of themselves. It's lusting over the boobies that gets wrong. And I have to admit... when I'm looking for someone to go out with, boobies are two things that are necessary.
Yes, that's the problem with the bracelets. They encourage lust over the female anatomy.

memnonkarana wrote:
My question is why would a breast cancer awareness bracelet be so contraversial?
Of course, supporting breast cancer awareness is good, but the message "I love boobies" is a controversial one. Supporting breast cancer awareness is really about finding a cure for people. It the people that we should love, not the body parts.

Owlright wrote:
I personally dislike I luv boobies bracelets and that whole general awareness campaign that makes the whole things about saving boobs instead of trying to fight cancer. Basically it's just excuses to wear things like "ta-tas" or "boobies" on your shirt or hat or bracelet. It also keeps people from being fully aware that everyone can get breast cancer, not just women, and that it doesn't just attack your boobs. I like that it raises a lot of money for treatment and research and etc., it just makes me a bit sad that it has to be based on novelty.
Well stated!

And why is there controversy about it? I don't understand.
It's not necessarily a "bad" word, but it is considered inappropriate to many people. I choose to star our the word to avoid offending anyone.
Eh, fair enough.
Some kids have actually been suspended from school for refusing to remove the bracelet.
Well that's stupid and good for the kids! Seriously good on them.
There is controversy because many people think the word "boobies" is inappropriate and the bracelets place emphasis upon parts of the female anatomy.
Then those people shouldn't wear the bracelets. I'm so tired of this censorship! Geeze. If you don't like something don't support it but why you gotta go spoil it for everyone else too? (that's a general 'you' directed at book banners and the like, not at you personally). OF COURSE they're drawing attention to parts of the female anatomy! Duh. But I don't feel it's doing so in a degrading or perverted manner so who cares? Most girls have boobies. So?
Yes, that's the problem with the bracelets. They encourage lust over the female anatomy.
...seriously? You're going to argue that? Pink ribbon campaigns point out that women have boobies too, do they cause lust? Or are we just upset because these bracelets are blunt?
Of course, supporting breast cancer awareness is good, but the message "I love boobies" is a controversial one. Supporting breast cancer awareness is really about finding a cure for people. It the people that we should love, not the body parts.
But WHY is it controversial? This IS helping find a cure. Of course we should love the people but who says you can't love body parts too? (hello) :P I mean, what if it was a heart disease campaign? Would you object to people wearing "I love hearts" bracelets because you should love the people not the body parts? I'm betting the answer is "Of course not that's just silly!" So what's the problem here? Oh of course. Boobies are only for the sexytime. Women don't actually have boobies the rest of the day. They couldn't possibly be just an every day part of the anatomy that we have to deal with in the same part as we deal with having feet or hands. Maybe theres not actually anything inherently sexy or sexual about breasts. Maybe that's purely a cultural thing. Funny thought, isn't it?
