Christian\'s responsibility to such a man as Obama?

What is our Biblical and Godly responsibility in how we should react and respond to such an un-Godly man? He is such a poor steward over this country, the people, and the finances that it has got to top some of the most unrighteous rulers of the past. What is amazing is that some fools defend him! Some Christians are so blind that they support him... I know that many will say, "We should pray for our leaders regardless of their ways..." I agree, but how do we pray. Certainly we do not pray blessings upon his works and actions. Do we pray that God give him wisdom? Surely not, for wisdom can be abused and used to further his detrimental actions to this United States of America? Do we pray for his demise? That wouldn't be right either... I know that matter of factly he is the president of the United States. However, I have no respect for him, and in fact do not even call him "President Obama." I merely refer to him by his first and last name. This is not a partisan issue. Rather a moral one. Thus the question... What is the appropriate response, as a Christian, to such an unGodly ruler over our Country? Since World War II, the largest budget deficit recorded was 6.0 percent of GDP in 1983. The Bush Administration oversaw budget deficits averaging 2.0 percent of GDP. The projected 2009 budget deficit of 11.2 percent of GDP would nearly double the post-war record. The 2009 budget deficit will be larger than all budget deficits from 2002 through 2007 combined. More than 43 cents of every dollar Washington spends in 2009 will have been borrowed. While President Obama claims to have inherited the 2009 budget deficit, it is important to note that the estimated 2009 budget deficit has increased by $400 billion since his inauguration, and the whole point of the "stimulus" was to increase deficit spending to nearly $2 trillion based on the unproven notion that would it alleviate the recession. The 22 percent spending increase projected for 2009 represents the largest government expansion since the 1952 height of the Korean War (adjusted for inflation). Federal spending is up 57 percent since 2001. In 2009, Washington will spend $30,958 per household–the highest level in American history–and under President Obama's budget, the figure will rise above $33,000 by 2019. The White House brags that it will cut the deficit in half by 2013. The President does not mention that the deficit has nearly quadrupled this year. Merely cutting it in half from that bloated level would still leave budget deficits twice as high as under President Bush. The public national debt–$5.8 trillion as of 2008–is projected to double by 2012 and nearly triple by 2019. Thus, America would accumulate more government debt under President Obama than under every President in American history from George Washington to George W. Bush combined. Kudos on the statistics, but you gotta support your claim that he is an unGodly man. Not sure if wasteful spending counts. :) (I'm referring to things like the use of government money to support abortion.)

Well, I don't think that praying that he would have wisdom is wrong. (Remember the story of Solomon?) A brief look at Proverbs will make it clear how important wisdom is for all of us--and it certainly would be vital for leaders. I think that praying for God-given wisdom and guidance should be one of our most frequent prayers for him. I believe it is right to pray that he would govern us justly. I believe it is right to pray that he would have integrity in all his actions. I believe it is right to pray that his advisors would give him godly counsel. I believe it is right to pray that he would be a leader to his family before he is a leader to this country. I also believe it is right (and essential) to pray that he would hear the gospel of Christ and come under the conviction of the Holy Spirit and, if it be the Lord's will, be granted salvation.

We should pray this over all of our leaders, regardless of their position. B) -Matt

Not sure if wasteful spending counts. :) (I'm referring to things like the use of government money to support abortion.)
You are correct that wasteful spending alone is not sufficient for the complete foundation on which I wrote my post. A friend of mine, Sean Scribner, has a blog http://truthdialogue.blogspot.com where he keeps a running tally of Obama's stances, and decisions... I have edited it slightly but for the most part, here it is... • He is 100% pro-choice. NARAL gave him a 100% score on his pro-choice voting record in the Senate for 2005, 2006, and 2007. • He has countless dangerous associations and connections to radical groups, such as: William Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Larry Walsh, Louis Farrakhan, Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko, The Rathke brothers, Franklin Raines, Jim Johnson, Saul Alinsky, Khalid Al-Mansour, Percy Sutton, MoveOn.org, Code Pink, Penny Pritzker, Mike Klonsky, Father Pfleger, American Action Network, Rashid Khalidi, and on and on and on... • He is a radical that is out of touch with mainstream America. He was ranked the most liberal US Senator in 2007. • He is a socialist who wants to redistribute wealth. • His historic deficit spending. • His foreign policy is dangerous. Apology tour 2009. Reaches out to Iran. Reaches out to Cuba. Naively wants to have direct talk with Iran without precondition. His administration killed production of the Air Force’s best fighter: the F-22. He reduced the number of strategic launchers despite receiving no real concessions from the Russians on Missile Defense. • Cap and trade. Makes no apologies that his plan would cause energy prices to necessarily skyrocket. • He is a proponent of socialized health care, yet lies to the American people about it. • The $787 billion 2009 stimulus bill. • He supports hate crime legislation. • Broken promise: He promised no more earmarks, then signed an omnibus spending bill with 9,000 of them. • Broken promise: He promised five days to review all bills before he signed them into law, then signed the Lily Ledbetter bill, the SCHIP/cigarette tax hike, and the 1071-page stimulus bill far less than the timeframe he promised. • Broken promise: He promised unprecedented government transparency, yet his White House rigs town hall meetings and has a pattern of rejecting Freedom of Information Act requests regarding secret meetings. • He repealed rules restricting federal money for international organizations that promote or provide abortions overseas. • He bowed to the Saudi King. • His involvement in the private sector. Bailouts, AIG, GM, Chrysler, etc. • He can't speak without a teleprompter. • He fully supports gay activism. The establishment of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month. The repeal of both the Defense of Marriage Act and the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy. He signed a presidential memorandum that extended benefits to same-sex partners of federal employees and administration officials. • He demonizes CEO's for using private jets, yet flys them all over the world. Remember the $75,000 trip to New York in a Gulfstream? • Joe Biden. • His Department of Homeland Security Secretary labeled Americans who are angry over illegal immigration, the poor economy, the increasing power of the federal government, gun control, abortion, and the loss of U.S. national sovereignty as "right-wing extremists." • He has appointed countless criminals and shady characters to his administration, such as: Bill Richardson, Timothy Geithner, Nancy Killefer, Tom Daschle, Mark Patterson, etc. • He originally intended to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. • He is throwing Israel under the bus. This alone is reason enough to call him unGodly. • President Obama would add another $1 trillion to President Bush's expansion of the federal budget. • He would double President Bush's increased federal education spending which was already 58 percent faster than inflation. • He will increase by 20 percent President Bush's federal antipoverty programs that equalled 3 percent of GDP. • Increased progressive taxation. • He reversed restrictions on embryonic stem cell research. • He closed Guatanamo Bay. • His appointment of the racist radical Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. • He opposed the passage of the Induced Infant Liability Act, a measure that would outlaw partial birth abortion, and it's infanticidal relative, live birth abortion in the Illinois State Senate. • He has ridiculous solutions to energy issues. Inflate your low tires, light bulb standards, etc. Yet he will not consider any 'all of the above' solutions. • His White House has no class. Wanda Sykes, his gifts to the British Prime Minster and the Queen, etc. • He believes the US Constitution is fundamentally flawed. • He co-sponsered the Global Poverty Act. • He co-sponsered the Employee Free Choice Act. • He sided with the likes of Chavez and Castro over the Honduran coup in 2009. • He accused US soldiers of just air-rading villages and killing civilians in Afghanistan. • He advocates sex education to kindergarteners. • After establishing new lobbying rules his first day in office, he waived those very rules to appoint former lobbyists to his administration. • He appointed David Ogden, a defender of child pornography and lawyer for Playboy, to the Number 2 position in the Justice Department. • He wants amnesty for illegal immigrants. • He has appointed over thirty "czars" to his administration who are unelected officials empowered by and held accountible to no one but the President. His science czar considered forced abortions and sterilization as viable population growth solutions. • He originally referred to the Somali pirate hostage crisis as an "annoying distraction" and demonstrated a lack of decisiveness as Commander in Chief. • He referred to waterboarding as torture and, in one of his first acts as President, he banned it as an interrogation tactic. • He released four top secret memos concerning CIA interrogation techniques at Guantonamo Bay and secret detention centers round the world. • He is unpatriotic. He wouldn't put his hand over his heart during the national anthem. He quit wearing a flag pin on his lapel. He voted against making English the official language of the US, and thinks instead that our children should learn Spanish. • His wife is unpatriotic. • He often refuses to take a stand on tough issues for fear of the political backlash. As an Illinois state senator he voted "Present" almost 130 times on important bills, such as HB 382 and SB 230 (prohibiting partial birth abortion), SB 71 (concerning the penalties of carrying a concealed weapon), SB 759 (requiring mandatory adult prosecution for firing a gun on or near school grounds), HB 854 (protecting the privacy of sex-abuse victims -- he was the only member to not support the bill), HB 1900 and SB 562 (parental notification of abortion bills), SB 1093, 1094, 1095 (protecting a child if it survived a failed abortion), and SB 609 (prohibiting strip clubs and other adult establishments from being within 1,000 feet of schools, churches, and daycares). During his very brief time as a US Senator, he voted "Not Voting" on 8 out of every 10 bills.

I think many of you missed the "credits" on the post abput Pbama's stances and accomplishments. First and foremost, I did not say that everything on the list was unGodly. I said that it was a list from a blog of a friend of mine. the entire thing can be found here: http://www.truthdialogue.com/blog/obama.php with links to the supporting evidence on each topic. Secondly, a couple of you have done a really good job of picking several of the items on that list and challenged them as not being unGodly. I agree. I never said that everything on the list were unGodly acts. Many of them simply show his ignorance and lack of ability. However, this post is not meant to be a political attack on Obama, nor a partisan issue. I never compared him to Bush, Reagan, Clinton etc... There are plenty of items in that list that show his immorality and unGodliness. The point is, and the question was. He is not a Godly man. He supports and defends immorality. What is the appropriate Christian response to such an unGodly, immoral man being the leader of the nation that we live in? -Matt

I think that the king should have bowed to Obama and Obama should have simply shook his hand. Both cultures mixed :) Didn't the White House say that Obama was just reaching down for his hand or something? That's what I would have had a bigger problem with, because that would be an absolute lie.
